2019: New York City

I flew out of Portland on the red-eye and landed in New York City before sunrise on Halloween. I took the subway to Sam and Brad‘s apartment, took a nap, then went to get a massage at Fishion by my main man Fan. Back at the apartment, we watched Blade and ate pizza while visiting with friends.

The next morning, I made my way to downtown Brooklyn to join a “Fuck the Police” march, where I met up with Internet friend Luke, whom I have not spoken to since (as of December 2025; no reason!).

Eventually I made my way into Manhattan to rendezvous with Ali, Sam, and Kieran at Madison Square Garden to see Dead & Co. We enjoyed the show while carefully minding both state and federal laws. Afterward, we went to Do or Dive where we met Howard, who took us back to his apartment where we hung out until morning. I went to sleep at 8:15am.

I left Howard’s apartment, where Kieran remained asleep, and took a nap back at Sam’s before meeting up with Maura and Matt at Saraghina for dinner. The rest of the day was pretty low-key, as I was still tired from the long night.

The next morning, Sam and I got breakfast then went to watch the New York City Marathon. I left from there to take the bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to Closter, NJ to meet up with Kieran, his dad, and his dad’s dog Tony.

Kieran’s friend Tom picked us up and drove us back into Brooklyn to see a show at Our Wicked Lady. David and Ben joined us too, and on the way home we ran into Sam’s friend Madison (no relation to the square garden of the same name.

Woke up once more, got another massage from Fan, then took the 6 train to 110th St in East Harlem to eat my very first chopped cheese (not pictured). I took the train back to Bed Stuy, said goodbye to Brad, and made my way to JFK to return to Portland.
