Grandparents
Grandparents was a band featuring Benjamin Maxwell Johnson on guitar, Richard Willard Fenton on guitar, Dylan White on guitar, Marc Christiansen on keys, Allison “Sunny” Faris on bass, and Stephen Bridges on drums. Members of the band met while attending Central Catholic High School or in their first year at Portland State University; Sunny joined in 2012 after moving in with several members of the band, initially as a vocalist. After their previous bassist, Max, left the band, Sunny was brought on to learn bass. Stephen joined sometime later.
Grandparents is named for a drug dealer once familiar to members of the band. They were voted the #10 best new band of 2012 by the Willamette Week, who described their music as “A spaghetti western played through a broken amplifier in a distant concrete room; punk-rock night at the Sea Lion Caves; a tent revival for woodland elves.” Grandparents played their final show on December 17 2015 at Holocene.
