2015: georgia and new orleans

On Wednesday March 4, I flew to Atlanta and took MARTA into the city. Celia picked me up and we got dinner and drinks with some of her friends at Elmyr before rendezvousing with Andrew at Sister Louisa’s Church of the Living Room & Ping Pong Emporium. Andrew and I drove to Athens for the night. We spent Thursday hanging out in Athens before going to a house show at La Casa de Cha Cha on Ruth Street, seeing performances by Tommy Weigle, Saline, and Richard Gumby.

We drove to New Orleans on Friday, where we went bar hopping with Emily, as well as Ashley, Lindsay, Kristin, and Hannah, all of whom we knew from a Facebook group. The next day, Andrew, Emily, and I went to a birthday party at Nik’s house with Megan, both of whom I went to high school with.

Later in the evening, we went to a launch party for issue 2 of the magazine Momma Tried, held in a roofless warehouse located at 2120 Port St in New Orleans. The event was billed as “Black tie appreciated, nudity encouraged.” There I met Kaja, whom I was Facebook friends with but had never met due to living in another country, and Ann and her Wesleyan friends, whom I’d also met online prior to arrival.

I wandered around by myself on Sunday to take photos with an Olympus 35DC camera I had at the time, then got dinner with Ashley and friends. The following day, I met up with the Wesleyan crew again to hang out in a cemetery before spending the evening once again with Ashley and friends. She drove me to the airport on Tuesday and I flew home to Portland, where I discovered that one of my roommates had been arrested.
